Not legal advice. This page points you to the official source; it doesn't restate the law. Rules change, so read the official page and contact your state agency or a qualified attorney about your situation.

The official source we verified on 2026-10-17: Utah State Board of Education.

What to look for on the official page

• Whether you must file a notice, affidavit or registration, where, and by when
• Required subjects and any instruction-time rules
• Assessment, evaluation or portfolio requirements
• Records you should keep
• Other legal options such as private, church, charter or online public schools

Choosing a curriculum that fits Utah's rules

If your state expects records, assessments or particular subjects, check which provider keeps grades and transcripts. Online schools usually do it for you; print curricula leave it to the parent. Tuition-free online public schools, such as those powered by K12 or Connections Academy, are available only in some states. Check each provider's site for Utah.
